Further Information

Side effects: The cholera vaccine may cause mild side effects such as stomach discomfort, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, or tiredness. These effects are usually short-lived.

Additional precautions: Continue to practise good food and water hygiene, especially when travelling. Drink only bottled or treated water, avoid ice cubes, wash hands regularly, and eat well-cooked food to reduce the risk of infection.

Risks caused by cholera: Cholera can cause severe diarrhoea and dehydration, which can be life-threatening if left untreated. Young children, older adults, and travellers to areas with poor sanitation are at higher risk of serious complications.
